Interview with Bormann of probably the best Czech grind band Pigsty

Pigsty is one of the best grind bands in the world today, so its mandatory for all of you to know about this band. That's the reason I and my beloved chubby contributor Pooptastik decided to interview this wonderful band obsessed with pigs. If you want to know more about their music refer to my review. Now please make way for the interview.

- Conducted by the hairy sticky pig Kunal Choksi and the poop-smeared obese pig Pooptastik

Diabolical Conquest (Kunal): First say an enthusiastic hi to all our readers with lots of exclamation marks.

Pigsty (Bormann): Hi everybody there (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), who are ready for news about Universe pigs and their new adventures.

(Sorry for the rude addition of exclamation marks, their absence was truly exasperating for me - Kunal)

Diabolical Conquest (Pooptastik): What are you eating right now and how're your parents doing?

Bormann: Oh, man. It is 1:06 and I'm at work now and I'm eating some rolls with sosage.
My mother is teacher, so she is sleeping now. She is happy, if she have some nice dream…about his son, who play grind core

DC (Kunal): I'm sure you mean nightmares. Anyway let's talk about your latest album ‘Pigs Are Back'. You've divided that album into three parts: Pigsty, Quadamage and Subba. What's the idea behind all that? And what does Subba mean?

Bormann: We wanted to devided it because of difference of these three parts.

Pigsty – it is new but classic Pigsty material with more voices and it is more coloured then our previous stuffs.

Quadamage is our experiment with down-tuned metal with strange drum rhytms. Onetime I brought one of these songs recorded on cd to our drummer and he told to make another 2 to record them on our cd.

Subba is something like very nasty and fat bitch in Swedish. It is band of Jari.

DC (Kunal): Apart from very nasty and fat bitches, which animals and bands have influenced Pigsty?

Bormann: To say to some journalist which bands have influenced us is a little dangerous, cause then everybody start to write, that we try to play like our favourite bands …So I can tell you that we listen so much kinds of music from folk, hip hop, hc, death or grind… But I can tell you, that for example one of favourite bands of our drummer and vocalist is Opeth… cause we play totally different kind of music. Our favourite animal is PIG. But I have to say that all things around us influence us.

DC (Pooptastik): We've noticed that you and Alienation Mental are really into bands like Korn, Rage Against The Machine, etc. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but in your latest release, there's 3 tracks of Quadamage that are solely in the same vein of Korn with that amazing heavy and crunchy production. I was frustrated that the previous songs in the album didn't have that down-tuned production, why didn't it have the same production? Also why were those three songs included separately in the album?

Bormann: Quadamage is something like project with our friend from band Dark Gamballe. He is very good and interesting singer and I wanted to cooperate with him for a long time. It is good that you don't swear us for these songs, cause most of metal reviewer did it….the said, that we are trendy

If we use in Pigsty the same tunnig like in Quadamage, our songs will be not clear and some riffs will maybe lostet in sound. I think, that if you want to play so down-tuned, you have to have music for it.

Pigsty songs are different…but maybe we will try it sometime….

DC (Kunal): What's with nu-metal and Czech bands these days? Which nu-metal bands are you guys into? Why?

Bormann: There are no good nu-metal bands in our republic, I think maybe except our friends Dark Gamballe, which singer is 10…voice from Quadamage… and maybe Bethrayer. Maybe there are some very good, but I don‘t know them unfortunatelly. There are some very good hard core bands.

We are not playing in some nu bands now. Only I have my project, which will appear maybe in this year…it is nothing official…but maybe it will released like Quadamage, but this music is more simple than that 3 songs.

DC (Pooptastik): Why isn't there a Rage Against The Machine cover in the latest one?

Bormann: Because we've got no another now J . We recorded Bulls on parade because we played it in our old band, where was only Otyn and me. And when I come to Pigsty we decided to play it too. To record Wake up was idea of our former bassist Flegin. When he saw preview of our cover with “spider/matrix” design, he said that we have to record “that good song of RATM from end of movie“. Very interesting is, that he never learn this song…

DC (Kunal): Quadamage is undoubtedly is influenced by the Quake series of PC games, which other games are you guys into? Exactly how geeky are you guys?

Bormann: Unfortunatelly I have to say that we have not much time for play pc games. Otyn is very good at Quake 3 Arena – really killer. I play only for fun, but like I wrote …no time now :(
But our favourite games are Quake, GTA, Undying…and most of 3d shooting brutal actions.

DC (Kunal): I've noticed the improvement in the production of your new album. It's not as trebly as on ‘Spiders' and it's almost as great as on your debut. How did you guys manage to get such a solid production?

Bormann: Every of these three albums was recorded by little different way, but suprisingly the ways of last two are more similar. The Return was recorded completely in recorded studio Sopa, but on other two there was recorded only drumms and vocals. But in case of The return we used different recording methods indeed…and people can hear it. I have to tell you, that during recording, mixing and mastering we toke care much more on everything than on Spiders.

DC (Kunal): You have also brought back your movie-like feel back into your album which simply rules. Which kinda movies are you guys into? I know you guys dug The Matrix.

Bormann: First Matrix movie was perfect for its idea, but another two…very good movies, but we missed something there. We are big fans of old czech movies and serials, cause we like ol czech actors. All of our music on The Return is from there. Voices too. It is cultic czech actor Rudolf Hrusinsky and in the start of cd he told: “Do you like music? Sensitive people love the music” and on end he told: “I thinked something more funny“.

But we like new movies too: action, scifi, comedies about ganja too.

DC (Kunal): I'm glad you're not into our Indian movies otherwise you'd have to release your album in three cds. Well, in your lyrics you've described the ‘Universe Pig' as an extremely fierce and powerful race. If we humans had to fight them back, how would we have to do it? What is their weakness?

Bormann: As you can read in our lyrics, when they will come, the judgement day will come. We people are only experiments animals for them. They will erase us like unuseless in a while. It will be not a fight…it will be only genocide.

DC (Kunal): What's with so many guest appearances on this album? Did you owe them or do they all happen to be your relatives?

Bormann: They are our masters. We communicate with them and they tell us, how we have to play and what we have to sing...

DC (Kunal): How does Otyn drum so fast? He is also credited for playing the guitar, how's that?

Bormann: Otyn plays so fast because he have no girlfriend for a years, so he must himself... and his hand are quickier a quickier…

Otyn is very good guitarplayer too, so we recorded guitars together.

DC (Kunal): And how on this wide, wide universe does Topi remove such insane vocals? Is it true that he brings a pig in the studio and molests it violently?

Bormann: Oh yes. We don't use any effect on vocals, so everything whach you can hear is Topi's real voice. I don't know, how he can to that….cause he looks realtively normaly…

DC (Kunal): You've been a faithful pig of Bizarre Leprous Productions right from your split with Cativeiro. I guess they must be pampering you guys a good deal. But with your band quickly gaining a very good reputation suppose if a big label wants to sign you guys up would you leave BLP? Are there any such plans for this betrayal? Which label will it take you to do that?

Bormann: We have no offers. Cooperation with Roman is good, so I think, why we have to change something. We can do what we want and nobody tell us anything…

DC (Kunal): Is Pigsty working on any new material? What's coming next?

Bormann: We are working on some new songs. We want to make it more crazy. In next year we will have split with our friend from Ahumado Granujo maybe.

DC (Kunal): That's sounds fantastic, pigs dancing to techno! Please explain your fascination with pigs. What appeals you the most about pigs, the similarity?

Bormann: Pigs are interesting animals and everybody despise them…so we like them.

DC (Kunal): Have you ever tried riding a pig?

Bormann: When I was young I was ride on pig onetime I think. But now it is impossible…except I find that big pig like I saw only in book…

DC (Pooptastik): If someone was to come up to you and poke you in the eyes, what would you do?

Bormann: Holy shit…I don't know…if I will can see after his attack I will hit him maybe. If not…somebody of my friends will kick ass of this bastard

DC (Kunal): Apart from creating funny sounds for Pigsty and watching animal porn, what else do you guys do? How about jobs? If yes, what kind?

Bormann: Our drummer is small trader, vocalist is storekeeper, bassist works on railway and I'm IT specialist. Our hobbies except things you wrote and music are movies, computers, traveling and so many common things.

We are quite normal guys

DC (Pooptastik): Seeing that two of the band mates openly promote their gay love to Maryland Deathfest, will there be a chance that you guys be able to play 2006's MDF?

Bormann: Yes, we hope that everything will go right way and we will play there and have a little tour there …about 10 days. But there are big problems to obtain visa, so we will see…

DC (Kunal): Is there any chance in your lifetime that Pigsty will come to India and play? Wait, have you even heard of India?

Bormann: Nobody invited us there still. But to play there is little strange, cause we cannot have there only one or two gigs because of prise of airtickets.

DC (Pooptastik): Are you guys a bunch of communists?

Bormann: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DC (Pooptastik): Why are Czech beers so cheap? And is it true that Czechs fight whales?

Bormann: I don't know if beers there are so cheep for czech people like for foreigners…For us is relatively normal price but I have to say, that beer is more and more expensive :( But truth is, that only there I can get some beers in every place I come. Meanwhile…

I don‘t know what do you think “fight whales“….

DC (Kunal): Spiderman has a spider's powers, Superman has super powers but what kind of powers do you, Bormann, have?

Bormann: Power of ganja…cause I'm GANJAMAN

DC (Kunal): Awesome! I'm Coconutman for your information. Okay who do you think is stupider, me or Pooptastik?

Bormann: You both guys need help

DC (Kunal): Alright we're done being nosy. Say anything you want now.

Bormann:
Thank you for this funny intie. It is nice to see, that there are some journalist with interesting questions still.
After all fucking shits what was happened, I can say only one funny sentence:

Life is only joke….so why don't you smile?

Diabolical Conquest: Hail Ganjaman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
