Every time I put ‘Ominous Bloodline' into my Pioneer disc changer I have what us atheist's call a “Moment of doubt.” This is for the reason that I actually say a prayer with the pious delusion of an ass kissing Jesus freak. The benediction usually goes, “Oh Jesus and your daddy God, thank you for making those insane boys from Malta called Beheaded so fucking broootal good. They are a blessing within a Metal scene that has grown full of talentless clone bands and pretentious opinionated fans. Despite proving your non-existence by making George W. Bush the president, I will kiss your Jew ass if heaven does indeed exist all due to your placing Beheaded in the manger of Metal. Oh yeah, thanks for not answering my last prayer asking for my 2 nd favorite porn starlet, Belladonna, to show up at my front door soliciting me for gratuitous sex involving much tit fucking. Damn Jesus, you're an asshole.” Then I push play, and with Beheaded' first notes horripilation wracks my body as if the ghosts of a million Spanish Inquisition victims have passed through my living form.

With ‘Ominous Bloodline' Beheaded have made a corpulent brute of an album that is sure to take them to the next level of Metal recognition, for they have risen above the numerous clones that clamor for stardom like Reality TV harlots. The most noticeable thing about this album is not the obvious militant barrage of guitars, drums, vocals, and bass. No, what sticks out with the obviousness of shit stains in a 3rd graders Fruit of the Looms is the production. While ‘Perpetual Mockery' was cholerically raw, ‘Ominous Bloodline' is cleaner than a waxed pussy. Other standout aspects of the music is that Beheaded have toned down the triggered double bass that was almost rapper envious on the EP ‘Resurgence of Oblivion', and the snare drum that at times disappeared on ‘Recounts of Disembodiment' is now always in the mix. Yeah, on ‘Ominous Bloodline', Beheaded have made an album that is definitely close to perfection. The result is a dispiteous tidal current of technicality blended with slams sure to send your collision insurance premiums into oblivion.

Obviously the ole saying that “Nothing is new under the sun” exists when one begins to discuss Beheaded. Despite being from Malta, Beheaded' sound is a derivative of both the New York and Florida Death Metal scenes. The technical aspects of their music have a flavor akin to Suffocation and Dying Fetus what with chromatic scales, half steps, signature changes, and semitones. Some fusion jazz melodies similar to something from ‘None So Vile' era Cryptopsy bury the listener in fly larvae. The vocals can be discerned with the lyric sheet and they are a cross between Suffocation and analogous to what Abysmal Torment has duplicated. Irregular drum patterns combined with the double bass styling's of Derek Roddy and a thicker snare ping comparable to Deeds of Flesh fly with the ferocity of piranhas on a quarter hind cut from a Hereford cow. Other bands that seem to fit into the Beheaded sound pattern are Decrepit Birth , Malignant Inception and some Sadistic Torment. Still, the thing about Beheaded is that from their first album till ‘Ominous Bloodline' they have managed to carve out their own sound despite the afore penned contrasts. This seems to have been done with sheer speed, mercurial timing, and an occasional pit riff all interwoven with licentious energy. Bottom Line: Beheaded is relentless and talented, which is an impenitent shift of course from some of the bands like Aeon, Vile, Disavowed, and even Deeds of Flesh who seem to pump out the same cookie cutter Broootal Death Metal in a drab interchangeable sound with other Unique Leader bands. By contrast, Beheaded seems to have missed the little Unique Leader team tea party on a couple of occasions cause they seem fresher than a fat chick stuffed with a new tampon.

‘Ominous Bloodline' is filled with one choleric track after another. “Crowned with Repression” is filled with polished distortion and ruthless proficiency. Then at 1:49 it slows to a steamroller tempo that progress into a locomotive roll at 2:28 before vicariously swinging into sound barrier breaking speed at 2:53. With “Vaults of Ageless Pain” I accidentally made the mistake of pushing the fast-forward button on the car stereo and was nearly thrashed then castrated by my girlfriend, Armin. This song is a beast of Cryptopsy melody and sped up Suffocation crank-head time changes. Then at 1:25 the ole pit riff kicks in with Melchior Borg aspersively spewing a sandy maelstrom of remorseless impiety. “Depths of Sore” is a groovy intermezzo that is a 1:29 respite from the chaos. Then “Ominous Bloodline” blindsides you in the square of your back with the barbarity of a 307 pound Dallas Cowboys defensive end at full-fucking-speed. Taken as a whole Beheaded have created a well executed album with ‘Ominous Bloodline'. Everything is timed perfectly whether it is the speed riffage, tremolo picking, slams, venomous vocals, or blazing percussion. Groovy breakdowns are all in the right place, doom paced chugs spellbind the listener, and cymbals ride with the fluidity of a surfer on a 20 foot wave. Aesthetically, ‘Ominous Bloodline' is about as sublime as Death metal is capable of being.

Going back to the band pictures on ‘Resurgence of Oblivion' one can see that Chris Brincat is wearing a Slipknot shirt. As startling as this dire fact is I am not about to castigate Chris. Nah, we'll just call it a temporary loss of reason on his part, but the basis for why I bring up Slipknot is pimping. Hell, if Brincat can wear one of their shirts then why the fuck can't Slipknot wear one of Beheaded'? Actually, Slipknot should take Beheaded out on tour with them that way a whole legion of pussies and mindless automatons can get the opportunity to hear and feel true Brutal Death Metal instead of another concert featuring masked morons and rap undertones. As a matter of fact, Beheaded should get whored by their label Unique Leader with 110% commitment even if they have to take some cash away from lame acts like Vile. I wanna see a package deal that comes with ‘Ominous Bloodline' alongside Ken and Barbie dolls that come complete with a guillotine for lopping off their doll heads or the fingers of bad little children. I want Beheaded to do the soundtrack for every future horror movie along with Blood Freak. Fuck, I want them faggot rock stars in Metallica to finally put together a real show with Beheaded on the opening bill. See fans, Beheaded is thicker than a Peter North pop-shot on succulent Jasmine Byrne' face and they deserve to be a household name along with Absolute Vodka, Taco Bell, and Hustler Magazine. This means that you should order ‘Ominous Bloodline', NOW, and if you already have a copy then order it again. DO IT!!!!
