Alright, first shit first. Hacavitz is made up of some ugly fuckers and I mean this as a compliment. Looking at their pictures made me almost puke, but the beauty of it is that these monsters aren't about pretty boy posing, makeup sporting, or wanna-be-bad-ass glaring for the camera. No, these animals are ugly Metal mother-fuckers, for example, Eduardo Guevara (Guitars) stands tauntingly without a shirt exposing a belly that an atom bomb could bounce off. He is exactly the kind of grotesque freak I'd like to see ass fucking some stuck up twat like Katie Holmes. Hell, all the guys in the band could do an on screen rim-job with Tom Cruise' ole lady Katie, and I'd just leer on with envy while pumping my curved cock lasciviously. Yup, these fuckers imbibe all that is good about Metal. The fact that Hacavitz is made up of members from such notable acts as Impiety, Disgorge (Mexico), and Demonized serves the purpose of insuring that the album ‘Venganza' will be a pogrom.
Musically Hacavitz is rooted in early era Morbid Angel in terms of sound and evil production. The snare work is incredible and at times sounds like an M-60 fired from a helicopter in a passionate, but methodic melee of carnage. Fills and rolls reverberate mercilessly and the double bass is a pure musical beat down for the twisted listener. The bass is thicker than the neck of a rhinoceros as it embodies the sheer rumble of thunder and sacrament. Guitars and melodies come across in a vicious wave of ominous Black/Death/Thrash hate that almost never stops. Riffs are blended in an incredible mix of tempo variance, bloody chops, and rhythms that are unique unto Hacavitz, but seem to have an influence taken from bands like Morbid Angel, Serpens Aeon, Possessed and Angelcorpse. In contrast to Impiety, Hacavitz is a little less technical with the breaks and time changes, but they make up for it with pure thrashy appeal. More importantly, Hacavitz does not sound like Impiety with a different name. This is evident from the lyrics, the music, and even the opening songs intro takes the listener back to a time in Mexico before governments, for the Mexican National Anthem is only played briefly before the chaos that is Hacavitz spins into the fray. Then there is Antimo on vocals. He is an absolute daemon whose malice oozes from the speakers in a crimson wave of rasps akin to the sounds of vultures ripping sinew from bone.
Songs like “Tsita Ndte” display an extreme composition style filled with intoxicating riffs, and incredibly fast drum play. By contrast “Old Rancor” opens up with a mid paced churning riff that could make a person paralyzed from the neck down break into a circular mosh fit. Adding to the diversity of this recording is the track “Mixtla Miquiztli" . This song is like a fucking volcano that slowly spews forth warnings and portents via smoke and rumbles before exploding with Krakatau violence at 2:22. The bass on this track will bust the woofer out of your goddamned speaker and the malicious vocals of Antimo will bring a pious nun to her knees for eager submission to a tonsil pounding face fuck.
The production on this ‘Venganza' is stellar. Played at a low or preferably high volume the record has a mythological atmosphere that reeks of ancient ritual and nefarious splendor. Even a hardcore atheist like me finds room to believe in the occult for 52:28 as this shreds impious malice through my Bose earphones. On ‘Venganza', Hacavitz have fused Death, Black Metal, and raw hints of Thrash into a sickening dissonance of spiraling hate. As a group, their music is played nearly flawless with a tightness that is awesome to behold at the supersonic speed they have achieved. This friends is a must own Death/Black Metal release sure to lure the most devout Jesus fan-whore into the wickedness that is Hacavitz.
