Hipermenorrea – Lymphadenectomy for Carcinoma of the Esophagus and Gastroesophageal Junction
Hipermenorrea is a hybrid of Dutch and Mexican goregrind, a rabid mongrel which continually salivates and goes around biting everything that moves, after which it takes a firm stance and violently shakes off the gore of its victims from its body and onto the terrified prudish listener, who will then either run away screaming or relish it and drag his chair closer to his speakers. There is no middle ground here.
Splattery lo-fi jungle goregrind a la The Sound of Rancid Juices Sloshing Around Your Coffin era Last Days of Humanity meets raucous South American porno groove and overwhelming cathartic blasting. Long but tastefully selected intros borrowed from monster/horror movies create a build up for the songs which don't wait to see whether you are ready or not; they will leap at you and rip your balls off. Post inexhaustive intro, after Track 1 erupts uncontrollably, the song shows a semblance of structure by settling down and unleashing romping grooves and compulsive tempo changes at the right moment. Random pure ruptured throat exhortations along with gratuitous cymbal abuse ensue, creating panic within the smug grooves. With its intricately played and unperturbed riffing within the slushy mayhem, Track 2 brings Lymphatic Phlegm to mind. Track 7 features a stupendous pulsating groove reminiscent of Semen that makes your body move with a deliberate zombie mannerism, which is of course punctuated with sporadic bursts of blasting so that it starts twitching violently as though it's stepping on a live wire from time to time. Track 9 brilliantly distracts the listener with a cymbal smashing barrage while it sneakily introduces a wild catchy beat that gets progressively prominent until you can feel it banging on your head. A similar but an even more powerful part emerges in the next song in the form of a rustic supergroove bearing similarities to Rompeprop, and that's when your body disowns your control over it, only to resign later when it starts hurting unbearably after the song ends.
Most of Hipermenorrea‘s songs pretty much follow this pattern of infusing groove, sometimes subtle sometimes compelling, with exaggerated early Mexigorge-esque devastative blasting in their brand of chaotic rabid goregrind bearing the corroded sheen of Oxidised Razor. The cymbals in particular ring so often that it's as if the drummer is firing at it with an automatic machine gun instead of hitting it by hand. Produced by label owner Joel Morales, Lymphadenectomy for Carcinoma.. has a beautiful sloshy and lo-fi sound that enables the listener to savour the gore splashed on him often with chunks, and also accentuating the spirited groove existing within it. And sure, it's nice to hear girls scream and whine before they get slashed or hacked, but if the intro goes on for too long it does frustrate you a bit, especially when you're in the mood for more splattery action. Then again, if it weren't for the intros, this album would be even more unendurable than Last Days of Humanity's Putrefaction In Process.
Strictly for the lo-fi fans of the genre, Hipermenorrea's spastic goregrind music is a terrible delight.
