Leukorrhea's debut full-length, Hatefucked and Tortured, was a glutinous slamfest. It was like a colossally fat girl jumping on a trampoline, except that her corpulent body never really left the bed of the trampoline. So in reality she was just moving up and down rhythmically with the momentum but never really jumping off it. Sadly this prodigious feat was marred by poor quality of springs - they squeaked a hell lot. Obscured by this squeaking and the sound of flapping fats were traces of pure death metal riffs. On ‘Breeding Salvation, their second full length, it is this side of their character which they have explored with a vengeance, even if it meant betraying their slamboyz.

To attain this new sound they have gleaned inspiration from various sources. It doesn't make my job of describing their music any easier, but my estimate should be accurate enough for you to place hefty bets. Take a brutal Dutch band, the kind that plays real death metal riffs as exemplified by Prostitute Disfigurement and Caedere, get it very excited, and then inject the following influences: thick ploddiness of Burial, thrashy parts of Malevolent Creation, contorted riffs of Gruesome Malady and Christ Denied, heart-squelching melodies of early Amorphis and Hypocrisy circa Osculum Obscenum, hooks of Cannibal Corpse, and lastly and most disconcertingly, eldritch quirkiness of none other than Cemetary from their arcane album An Evil Shade of Grey. That ought to make you rich.

Leukorrhea have thus created a kind of unconventional sound, kudos to it on that, however the same can't be said about the riffs, which frankly speaking are the same old, only the cut and paste job has been done with ingenuity and guile. The song structures, too, pose no real challenge to the listener for they are quite predictable with their blast-riff/hook-blast cyclic pattern. Yet, as though completely oblivious to their shortcomings, Leukorrhea play with great enthusiasm, passion, and unbelievable confidence, and that's what makes this an entertaining album, one you would want to revisit time and again.

Everyone has performed well in this album, working tight as a unit, although at times the drummer tends to get overeager with the full on blasting. Like for instance, in “Masks of Flesh” when an exquisite Hypocrisy melody from the classic Osculum Obscenum is played, the drummer is blasts maniacally, thrashing his limbs all over the place like a boy who doesn't know swimming is pushed into the deep end of the pool, thus almost cruelly drowning that beautiful melody. He's all right otherwise. Recorded at Primitive Studios and produced by Roger Beaujard, Breeding Salvation has excellent production values. So impressed were the guys in Leukorrhea with this that they decided to re-record one song from each of their split cds and a couple of songs from their debut. So this way, in addition to the original album songs, you have four bonus songs with the same clear and robust sound. Booya!

Both you and I know that you have enough same-sounding brutal shit in your collection. So before its monotony bores you to death, buy Breeding Salvation. You will thank me for saving your life and be indebted to me throughout your current life, probably even in your afterlife.
