Having enjoyed their previous album ‘Graveyard Cowboys', I was stoked when I heard about their new release. That album displayed dung-dropping improvement from their rudimentary split with Vampiric Motives. For that, they milked the healthiest grind cows in Poland, Squash Bowels and Dead Infection, and spiked it with thrashy splashy parts that sounded not unlike the bands from the Razorback ranch. I celebrated by running to my backyard where I galloped excitedly on my cow until it mooed.
Holy cow! This band has completely outdone themselves and my expectations with their new album. They've done everything they could to ameliorate their music. The first remarkable thing is the terrific production they've given to their new album. The sound is crunchy and strong with a scabrous guitar tone that will corrode your ear canal but will titillate your brain cells nevertheless. Second big advancement is in the vocal department. The new vocalist Konrad screams in a powerful hoarse and crusty voice that is often accompanied by squeals like those in Negligent Collateral Collapse. The third and the most important improvement of course, is in the song-writing area. The songs are more structured and mature with superb build-ups for injurious breakdowns and insanely thrashy parts. The riffs too are superior and delectable, played only until they're effective and are quickly replaced when they're about to lose their charm. Many of the riffs are memorable and that's something you can't say about many goregrind bands.
As compared to their former album, this one has more diverse influences. Along with the patriotic inspiration of Dead Infection and Squash Bowels, this album also shows off some thrash, punk/crust and striking grindrock influences. The thrash influence has been enforced in their music from their earlier album but here is it
appropriately
used. Their crust inclination could be heard in the song “Satanists Come From The Woods” and their punk disposition in “Bad Boys Go To Hell” for instance. Their grindrock leanings towards bands like Blood Duster and Dead was perceivable in their last album too (like in the title track itself) and a notable example here would be “Plan 9 From Outer Space”. The band also has a penchant for classic Regurgitate.
The best songs are towards the end of the album, tracks 8-12. Those are fantastic songs having superb slashing riffs in 'em which will make your body move in ways you never thought was possible. As bonus, No Escape Records have overdosed us with songs from the band's early split with Vampiric Motives titled 'When The Earth Spit Out The Dead'. Well no big deal for me as I already own that original split cd and anyway their new songs greatly overshadow their old generic ones that are ridden with excessively long intros, weak production, etc. There are also a few cool covers but basically it's the main songs of the album that are the highlight of this cd and the primary or sole reason why you must buy it.
Let me make it clear. ‘Satan Is A Cunt' is one of the best grind albums of 2005 and with this album Neuropathia have made themselves a cuddly place on the throne of the longtime Polish grind rulers Dead Infection and Squash Bowels. You better familiarize yourself with this band straightaway if you don't want your friends to make fun of your ignorance.
