Whore - Doing It For The Kids

Rob Fornicator - Vocals
Franko America - Guitars, Bass

Whore is the deplorable band consisting of the impolite Fornicator vocalist Rob, the ubiquitous Maniac Neil and the cheerful drummer of Engorged. The closest reference I can make with this band is Fornicator, and for those who have been goody-goody and are thus obviously unaware of them, their disgraceful death metal music was most exceedingly offensive and vulgar. I tell you, you'd feel bad just listening to them, and Rob with his overbearing vocals constantly made sure you did. Their sexual inclination was so much that I had to take precautions deemed necessary at the time of their hearing such as covering my delicate body with an impenetrable woollen blanket and I also felt the utmost need to go to the extent of hiding my family members and even my holy cows away for their own safety and sanctity.

After Fornicator was sidelined following the release of their sole self-titled album, Whore took upon herself to take care of the ‘Unfinished Business', her debut album in 2003. Whore, while seizing the principal Fornicator elements of Pungent Stench's ‘Been Caught Buttering' and Impetigo's ‘Horror of The Zombies' along with the delivery style of Meatshits, buttressed the music with the addition of a few thrashy parts making it livelier, more interesting and also different from Fornicator. That album had a few great songs, some superb death metal riffs but overall it was somewhat one-dimensional and a bit bland. It was as if some family member in the house took offence to their band name and protested by standing in front of the speakers blocking most of it's vivacity.

But Whore wasn't done yet. She came back busting in and insisted in ‘Doing It For The Kids', her second album, and learning from her earlier bruises she does a remarkably better job this time around. Whore now shows clear-cut markings of the local customers Frightmare and Lord Gore, and quite unsurprisingly so, for this band has the active participation of Maniac Neil aka "the man who can turn steaming poop into Swiss chocolate by merely touching it" who happens to play for both those bands and uh, pretty much every other band in Oregon. Mostly thanks to him, the songs here are thrashier and more fun than ever before and they've still preserved their heaviness and crudity. The songs now boast of those heavy, bitch stampeding Bolt Thrower-esque parts, thrashy parts procured from Frightmare, fast parts which sound similar to some on Maniac Killer, the typical quaint leads (albeit rare), the raw deathpunk vibe of early Abscess, the uplifting Pungent Stench tunes, while the rest of the riffs (even intros) are still strongly reminiscent of Fornicator. All these influences are stretched out in too many songs with some ending rather prematurely, therefore my advice to them is to play fewer but longer songs and incorporate their newfound elements in them to make it much more satisfying for the listener.

So let me remind you again that unlike Pungent Stench, who at times played exotic Spanish style acoustic guitars, Whore has no charm whatsoever. They're just fucking mean and rude and will most likely end up offending you. They won't ask you, they'll simply come up to you and rape you. And then they will probably make a song about it once it's over. So what are you waiting for? Buy ‘Doing It For The Kids' right away; it's the classiest Whore yet and it's more fun than tripping small kids.
